New Music West is a pretty big music festival in Vancouver, and we're quite proud to have been invited to play in it. Despite some initial worries that Ayren's guitar amp was about to crap out on him, we played a good show (and the amp behaved for the duration). The audience started off a little small, but grew quite a bit as we were playing. This was also the first show in which we handed out our new demo CDs.

'Youth Unlimited' Battle of the Bands Finals

Venue:

Memorial Park Bandstand: 224th Street, Maple Ridge

Time:

7:00pm

Admission:

Free - all ages

Other bands:

Chimera; Fuel

Our first-place win here got us $300 cash and a day's worth of studio recording time!

Maple Ridge Jazz & Blues Festival

Venue:

Maple Ridge Arts Centre & Theatre: 11944 Haney Place

Time:

1:00pm

Admission:

Free - all ages

Other bands:

Intellifunk; Beatrice Sallis; others to be announced...

This gig started off with basically no one in the audience, but the seats filled up quite nicely as we went along. We're not really "jazzy" or "bluesy", but it was fun to be part of this festival. Maybe next year we'll play on one of the bigger stages!

This show was a lot of fun. We had a huge outdoor stage to play on, and a great audience too, including quite a few people who had never heard us before and were very impressed.

This was our first downtown, paid gig. The fact that the whole band earned a total of $20 should tell you that there wasn't too many people there that night.

Last-minute line-up shuffling ended up having us 'headlining' the event, which is always a bit of a bummer at YouthFest because no one sticks around until the end.

Our first show ever went surprisingly well (for us, anyway; sound problems plagued The Liquorpigs), and was also very well-attended.
